The New Yorker, American weekly magazine, famous for its varied literary fare and humor. The founder, Harold W. Ross, published the first issue on February 21, 1925. The New Yorker’s initial focus was on New York City’s amusements and social and cultural life, but it gradually acquired a broader scope.
