After the gentle, almost acoustic wistfulness of After Years, their debut EP for Sarah Records, Secret Shine – originally a duo of Scott Purnell and Jamie Gingell – added more members, and more guitars, and developed a sound that would eventually be labelled shoegaze or dreampop. Working backwards, this collection of songs illustrates that progression, showing how Honey Sweet's driving, chainsawing guitars and the giddy propulsive swirl of Loveblind led to the poised melodic power and shimmering atmospherics of the five songs released on the original Greater Than God 10 – which, along with Untouched, their debut album, marked the culmination of this journey, and were their last releases on Sarah.
